07.16Say What?
I’m pretty shameless in my enjoyment of Fall Out Boy. Not enough to fully engage in fandom, mind you, since the only member of the band I can name is Pete Wentz but enough to relentlessly guilt my husband into taking me to see them in concert. (A fair trade for the Goo Goo Dolls concert I took him to, don’t you think?)
Anyway, I always giggle when I hear their song, This Ain’t A Scene.
The chorus: “This ain’t a scene, it’s a goddamn arms race.”
What I hear: “This ain’t a scene, it’s a goddamn assface.”
It makes absolutely no sense but I can’t help it. Patrick Stump (and yes, I looked that up just for y’all) needs to work on his enunciation.

my ears feel assraped. but no, I have to try *really* hard to get 'arms race' out of that.
and what's with that guy's facial contortions and what he does with his hands when he sings? if you mute it and kinda squint, he looks like a screaming baby with fistfuls of poop.

If I had to guess, he's probably mocking all those "in studio" music videos you see where the singers make their "I'm belting this out from the depths of my soul!" face and wave their hands around a la Christina Aguilera. (They're kind of a sarcastic band, considering one of their songs is titled "Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued".)
That or he's mildly retarded.
Of course, in the music industry, it doesn't really matter either way, haha. Most of them are barely functional human beings thanks to all the booze and drugs. (Ozzy, anyone?)
